Best street/strip tire on 17" wheel?

My nitto drag radials are not hooking anymore, Looking at either the MT ET Street Radial



or

G-Force T/A Drag Radial

Anyone have experience with either tire?

I know the Mickeys are horrible in the rain. However both of those tires wear comparable to one another. I have not personally used the NT05Rs but I do know a few people who swear by them. I personally ran the 555Rs and they worked well for a street tire. On the track there was definitely much better choices. I would not rule out the Hoosiers or M&H tires.

Never had an issue with the E.T. Street drag radials but my E.T. Streets are horrible as hell in the rain!! Had the 555R's and seemed to hook decent on the street for me at the time but there again maybe I wasn't making enough power to break em loose either.

I stumbled across some of your videos on Youtube.com What kind of tires are you on right now? I seen a video where you dead hooked launching about 4k rpm.

I need some new vids cause since I changed injectors there is no dead spot from the hit. If you notice in some of those videos you can see and hear a bad stumble due to to large of injectors. I am running a 28x12.50 E.T. Street. I launch my car between 4000-5000 depending on the race lol...

did you swap back to the 24 lb injectors? That car does hook up pretty well on the street.

Yea I put them in the next day after that one night a while back.

I personally like the M/T's and the BFG's although the Nitto's last longer imo.

the mickey thompson drag radials fucking work... and most must be talking about a true et street sucking in the rain, because ive never had problems with a mt drag radial in rain.

I have known a few people to wreck on MT DR's but I think it had alot to do with the life of the tire and the driving style.

Et street radial is my weapon of choice. 275/60/15 out back. My street tire is a 325/30/18 Hoosier rain race tire.

Et street radials are controllable in the rain but you can deft tell you have a slippery tire back there. 555r was my favorite drag radial for everyday use they just didn't perform for me at the track like the mt does. I've done a 1.42 60' on the mt's but the best I got on 555r's was a 1.57

Not so much worried about the rain, the car is not my daily driver and i never take it out in the rain anyway because i do not have wind shield wipers. I do not want a full slick because i hardly go to the track. I think i am going to go with the MT Street radial and check them out.

Yeah if you rarely get caught in the rain the MT's will be fine. They are definitely a sticky tire though. If you are on a 10 bolt be weary of the high rpm clutch drops.

I have run both the 17" MT DR and the Hoosier DR. The MT lasted longer and worked well, but the Hoosier hooked much better on the street and the track. Hoosiers dont work at all in the rain.

I have a set of hoosier and they hook GREAT on the street and track. i would not drive on them everyday. I swap mine out just for meets and track.

iv got mt et street radials. they are absolutly unpredictable in the rain. i was driving home durring rush hour one day and it was raining hard. was in 5th gear and moved the pedal about 1/8th of an inch. car went sideways and jumped across 3 lanes. finally got it straight in the service lane. i have no clue how i didnt hit anyone but i was doin 30 the rest of the way. on dry pavement, they are awesome tho.

you are not the first person to tell me that about Mickey Thompson Dr's.
